Root Canal or Endodontic Treatment (RCT)
Root canal or endodontic treatment is a treatment done to the inside of the tooth necessarily when the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected.
Causes
- Deep decay involving the pulp of the tooth.
- Faulty crown.
- Repeated dental procedure on the tooth.
- Crack or chip in the tooth.
- Trauma to the tooth without visible crack or chip.
Treatment for these teeth is necessary as inflammation or infection if left untreated in these teeth can lead to sharp, unbearable pain or lead to an abscess.
Modern endodontic treatment is similar to having a routine filling. Depending on the condition of the tooth, RCT can easily be completed in a few appointments. You can expect a comfortable experience during treatment.
Why do we need to save the natural tooth?
Saving the natural tooth has the following advantages:
+ Efficient chewing.
+ Normal biting force and sensation.
+ Natural appearance.
+ Protect other teeth from excessive wear or strain.
RCT involves carefully removing the infected material from the pulp space and underlying bone through the root canal, followed by thoroughly cleaning the canal and disinfecting it, subsequently filling and sealing of the canals with a rubber-like material, example, gutta percha. Afterwards, the tooth is restored with a filling and crown for added protection.
RCT helps you maintain your natural smile, continue eating the food you love and limits the need for dental work.
With proper care, most teeth that have had RCT can last a long time.
We perform machined (rotary) root canal treatment with advanced injection techniques to make the RCT procedure almost pain-free, quick and more effective.
